You are NOT an Accident

There are no accidents in God

“I am your Creator, you were in my care even before you were born.” Isaiah 44:2a (CEV)

Our parents may not have planned us but God did. He was not surprised by our birth. In fact He expected it. We are alive because God wanted to create us.

God custom-made our body, He chose our race, the color of our skin, our looks and every other detail. He determined the natural talents we would possess, the uniqueness of our personality and He decided the year and period we were to be born.

Regardless of the circumstances of our birth or who our parents are, God had a plan in creating us. It doesn’t matter whether our parents are good or bad or indifferent, God knew those two individuals possessed exactly the right genetic makeup to create “the you” He had in mind. Our parents had the unique DNA God wanted to make you.

There are no children who are “accidents”; many children are unplanned by their parents, but they are not unplanned by God. God’s purpose took into account human error. God never does things accidentally and never makes mistakes. He has a reason for everything He creates.

“God decided to give us life through the word of truth so we might be the most important of all the things He made.” (James 1:18 NCV)

“I have carried you since you were born; I have taken care of you from your birth, even when you are old I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray I will take care of you. I made you and I will take care of you.” (Isaiah 46:3-4 NIV)

Alive and Clean

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:1-10 NIV)

Our past is gone, a past that was ruled and controlled by Satan. All the mess and dirt of the past has been made clean by God’s grace and mercy.

Through God’s great love for us we are now alive and clean and accepted in the presence of God, through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, not just in this life but also in life eternal. However, it is not by what we have done to earn this life of grace and mercy, but it is a free gift of God, which we accept in faith.

We are now God’s people, His sons and daughters. We are good works created by the master craftsman, taken from a life of no rhyme or reason, completely out of whack to a life of balance, proportion and order. We are God’s work of art.

We are now at the place God appointed for us to be before the creation of time, or beginning of the world.

Let us read again and meditate on those beautiful encouraging words from the last verse of our base scriptures:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for Good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”(Ephesians 2:10)
