A group of ministers enjoyed their monthly fellowship meetings.
Each meeting featured a different activity designed to help the ministers develop a greater relationship with God. During January’s meeting, the ministers shared with each other their goals for the coming year. The ministers were joined by their spouses for the February session, which took place on Valentine’s Day and which included a discussion of God’s divine love.
At the conclusion of February’s session, the men of God talked about a theme for their March meeting. Each minister made a decision to discuss one of their favorite Bible passages. Each pastor was encouraged to write a 500-word essay describing the reason the chosen passage was among their favorites, then reduce the length of their paper to a maximum of 200 words.
During March’s meeting, the ministers verbally shared their writings. “There’s no doubt about it,” said Pastor Gale as he introduced his report. “It all goes back to Genesis 1:1-2, “’In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.’
“In the very beginning, there was nothing else and no one else but God,” said Pastor Gale.
After reading John 1:1-5, Pastor Gabriel said, “The Father, Son and Holy Spirit were all active in creation. God created man in His own image to honor and glorify Him.”
Pastor Gideon shared First Thessalonians 4:13-17, “’But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.’
“I believe the Lord is coming soon and we should live our lives accordingly,” said Pastor Gideon.
Pastor Gideon asked the Lord, “What is your favorite portion of Scripture, Father?”
The Lord replied, “All of it, my son. I wrote it. It contains my Word and is my Word. It is the road map to a good life on earth and to eternal life with me!”
