Let The Worship Begin
By Pastor Graham Beed
Pastor Graham Beed has pastored, preached and ministered the power of the gospel since 1978 and was recently called and anointed by the Lord in 2008 to commence Faithrocks Christian Centre on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Faithrocks Christian Centre commenced in April 2009 and in that time has seen the healing power of God touch and heal many people with cancer and other infirmities. The Lord recently spoke to Pastor Beed and said, “I have given you a ministry to see the Holy Spirit heal cancer in people’s lives.”
Pastor Beed believes that the Body of Christ should do the works that Jesus did to reach the lost. He has said that "this is the hour in time where God is equipping the church to receive an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and that the church needs to be ready."
Our heart for all is that you love the Lord more and more each day and that your heart will be filled with the very depth of a Holy God. As we plan and share these articles our desire is that the Lord will reveal His truth, and encourage you to walk in His truth.
The Lord has shown me that this is the hour of a major visitation of the Holy Spirit; over the past few months at church we are seeing a great outpouring of God’s healing power and presence. People don’t want to go home after church, they just want to sit in His presence. People are being healed in a significant manner and just want to love Him without reservation.
This above situation is wonderful and it shows that the good news of Jesus is tangible. To complement what the Holy Spirit is doing amongst us the Father desires a deeper relationship, by the way we worship and love Him with all our heart and mind, then we obtain the intimacy that Christ wants for us, His church.
A few days back while driving along the road, I pulled up at a red light at an intersection and noticed a lady in her car singing to her heart’s content, not being concerned who was looking or for that matter listening to her.
All of us at some stage have been like that lady. A question I would ask is “Do we have the same enthusiasm and passion when we go to the house of the Lord praising and worshipping our great and wonderful Saviour? Do we stand in His presence and so love Him that we abandon ourselves in Him?”
Praise and worship as we know will touch the heart of God. David was a man who did exactly that…he touched God’s heart and in Acts 13:22b, the Lord said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do My will.” Most of us know the first part of this scripture but the second part says, "who will do My will."
David was a worshipper, he was also a man that amongst other things abandoned himself in worshipping the Lord, he did the will of the Father. Jesus also did the will of His Father. Worship is a major part of giving to the Lord it will move the heart of God. In my opinion worship also melts the heart of the Father.
This abandonment that I speak of is actually forgetting what’s going on around us and loving the Lord to the degree that you and the Lord are totally consumed in communicating through worship.
Worship in the house of the Lord varies from church to church around the world with some churches blasting out music that causes even the youth to cringe, so a question I have to ask not only myself but all those who read this message, ‘Have we taken the worship that God so desperately seeks into common and ordinary secular music?’
The answer I personally would give to this question is that it disappoints me when I see how far downhill worship has gone. God is an intimate God and requires intimate worship, we as the church have translated it into a secular style with Christian-type words that don’t express the Glory of God.
This might appear ignorant but when listening to Christian radio it can be difficult to tell the difference between the music they play and the common secular sounds coming from the local FM station.
Speaking to the Church, we have to re-visit our relationship with God and begin a move of restoration and listen to what Jesus wants for the Church. Music with instruments are fine but if we removed them from worship how many young people who go to a youth meeting on a Friday night would still want to actually go and worship the Lord just with their own voices?
In the first instance worship must come from the heart and not because an electric guitar or piano dictates the mode or the direction the congregation should take. In the days of King David many instruments were used to lead the people but if we look at the next paragraph, David cast off his natural abilities and own insecurities and allowed himself to worship the Lord in free worship.
In 2 Samuel 6:14-16 it says, “Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart."
David in this account was worshipping the Lord through dance and the sound of the trumpet, he had abandoned himself in the Lord. Worship is not just singing but has many facets to it but the key in all of your worship is to release your heart to the Holy Spirit and become lost in Him.
After this took place Michal, Saul’s daughter despised David for doing what he did but David in 2 Samuel 6:21 said, “So David said to Michal, It was before the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the Lord.” So we see the hearts of two different people; David’s heart was always before the Lord but Michal was of a different spirit.
Because of Michal’s mind-set, the Lord said to her that she would become sterile and unfruitful leaving her to a life without fulfilment, not to have a child. God places a huge amount of importance on worship and our heart attitude. Jesus said in John 4:24, “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Jesus made it clear that an hour is coming where believers will worship God out of their spirit with truth attached, this is the hour of a visitation of a Holy God on His church, this is the hour where God is requiring pure worship from His people.
Are we that person who will take our whole being as a living sacrifice and present it to the King of Glory? Can we do that without instruments, can we do that without the hype or the entertainment? Can the church rise up and develop pure worship before the Lord?
We have been appointed by Jesus to take our worship and music and express it to the Father, this must be in the heart of every believer to worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
As the Psalmist says in Psalm 149, “Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.”
Until next time, may the Lord bless you and protect you.
