Violent Man

By Khuliso Musweswe

I thought they were made of steel

they didn’t born the way I did

they knew defeat not

they never cry and thought of giving up as always

they walk like lion in the mist of forest

I thought they were strongest and never defeated by some battle of life

the world has admired them before they born

their hope was like river that flow throughout drought season

really I thought they were not like me

But now I know they born like me

some of the battle of life defeat them and they never give up

they cry and thought of giving up but like a warriors in the mist of battle,

they fight on until the victory achieved.

I am a violent man

I have learned to win war and not give up

when I am defeated during the war

although the world didn’t accept me,

I flourish like weeds during drought

truly I will see the Kingdom of God

Your Beauty

By Khuliso Musweswe

From where sun rises to where sun sets
I looked and never found
I sought after and it was always miles away
the beauty that exceeds imagination
the beauty that roses admire
thus your beauty

Here is desire that burns my heart like flame
to search throughout the world
to observe every flower
to see where beauty hails which exceeds yours
but this is vanity

The beauty from untouched world
water of spring that never drinks
flowers that never cease to demonstrate their beauty
could you compare to his beauty
that my eyes never cease to look upon

Truly your beauty exceeds every beauty I have acknowledged
unlike a flower that shows its beauty, yours remains forever
unlike stars of heaven which their brightness induced by darkness,
you shine each and every hour
your beauty is forever

Lord, You Are On My Side

By Khuliso Musweswe

Lord, you are on my side
I walk through the forest
in the mist of wild animals
when they devour each other I saw them
but you protected me like a father protecting his only son

Winter came with its darkness and coldness
like a hen puts its chicks, you put me under your wings
when the darkness of winter increases
you shine so bright and make my winter a bright sunny day

They rejected me but you loved me
they made my soul suffer but you embraced me
they chased me out of their life but you welcomed me
they denied me but you let your Spirit dwell in my soul

I look at myself; I see nothing that says I am strong
but you assured me that I am
when the waves were too strong to endure, you guided me through them
when I lost hope you became my hope
through the storms you remained with me

I don’t need billions
I don’t need a multitude to know
I know because your Spirit resides in me
your Son intercedes for me
and Lord, you are on my side

Countless Words In My Heart

By Khuliso Musweswe

My Lord, Your works are wonderful
like the wind drives waves of the oceans
Your works drive millions of words out of my heart
like echoes of strong winds, Your works intensify every word uttered by my lips

Like a perennial river, words flow out of my heat
but never fully describe Your beauty
like songs of birds during spring, my heart sings of You,
a new song each morning but they cannot match Your love unto my life

Billions of words conceived by my heart but few are uttered by my lips
for Your greatness is too high to be fully described
I thought these words my lips will speak; but You never cease to make me wonder
for every motion of You brought a new word of praise in my heart

I count the words as my heart acknowledges them
like diversity of spices of an ocean, every word is new
each second is like sand of the ocean which are countless
although my counting is in vain, my heart is filled with joy
for every countless word in my heart are praises to Your name

My Desire, To Be Yours

By Khuliso Musweswe

Drive my soul with power of desire
to be led and guided
to be inclined and rebuked
to feel Your love and be inspired by it
to be Yours, my Lord

Let Your Word prevail in my heart
let it reign in the midst of my soul
let it order every thought in my mind
let it burn my heart to live in willingness of being Yours

Like a wife, be my husband
like a lion in the jungle
let You execute judgment over my thoughts
to be Yours indeed

Your peace and love, let them reside in me
until I call them my residence
Your hope and grace be my inspiration
until I call them my weapon to conquer
to be Yours Lord. This is my desire

Play a Song

By Khuliso Musweswe

Not just a song but a song that will arise my soul
Play a song, play a song to my soul
Don’t play harp nor string
But a new song of eternal hope

Like a melody of echoes from the mountains
Let it be your song to my soul
Reminding me of greatness of my Creator
Play a song, play a song to my soul

My soul is crying for a song
A song never sung before
A song that will arise memories of great works of the Creator
Play a song, play a song
Not just a song but let it declare love of my God

I ask do not ignore the cry of my soul
Let its tears be like blood to you
It waited for a long time to cherish a song
Do not deny it the pleasure to worship

Play a song, play a song
Play a song that wills my soul to worship
Do not play a song of sorrow
That will make my soul heavy, but a song of worship

Your Praise, Theme of My Poetry

By Khuliso Musweswe

I cry out loud with all my strength
To sing a song that I never sang before
To utter words that drives by your doings
Your praise oh Lord, is the theme of my poetry

A beauty of words uttered by my mouth
Do not demonstrate by abilities to speak
My poetry is justified not by the amount of words
But a theme that it have
Your praise my GOD, is the theme of my poetry

Like a woman loyal to her husband
My poetry is loyal to its theme
Like a son walking in the footsteps of his father,
Is my poetry walking along its theme
Yes is true, you are the theme of my poetry

Indeed You Are My God

By Khuliso Musweswe

Indeed You are my God
When I was desperate, You became my solution
When I was helpless, You became my help
When I felt so hopeless, You became my strength

In times of need, You were there
Where I felt like I could never reach, You took me there
When life told me it was over, You began with a new chapter in me
Indeed You are what nobody could comprehend

When my body reminds me of my weakness, You strengthen my soul to subdue it
When my substances are not enough, You stretch them to take me to a desired end
Indeed my Lord You are my God

When yesterday's voice I have heard, You remind me that You were there
When grasses whither and roses fade, You keep me in Your provisions
Indeed You are a wonder to me but still my God
