Christian Poetry
Poems by Cheryl A. Mariano
AKA Cheremiah

Cheryl writes: "The Lord saved me when I was 30. I am now 68. I have been writing poetry since I was saved. I have been married to my husband Marcelo (also a believer) for 48 years. We live in Arizona. We have 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. I love the Lord Jesus Christ with all my heart, soul, and strength, and living for Him is my greatest desire.  In 2014, I wrote and had published a book called, 'Tali's Mysterious Dream', (thank you Jesus)!"

Christmas Mourn
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Seems as I talk to boys and girls
As Christmas time draws near
They all seem so excited
About Santa and his reindeer

Their Christmas list is piled sky high
And they hope that they’ll receive
At best, a portion of the toys and gifts
As they wait on Christmas Eve

And I listen very patiently
I even try to smile
I tell myself that certainly
They will mention the Christ Child

But the sparkle in their eyes is gone
And their voices become still
And they didn’t mention Jesus
Or God’s promise He fulfilled

The time is fast approaching
I call it Christmas Mourn
A time when people celebrate
But forget that Christ was born

The precious Christmas story
Of the Savior and His birth
His precious blood atonement
And His mission here on earth

Must be proclaimed by those of us
Who know Christ and can say
Thank you Lord for saving us
And for Christmas your Birthday

The time is fast approaching
I call it Christmas Mourn
A time when people celebrate
But forget that Christ was born

This Song's For You
By Cheryl A. Mariano

If you my Lord would grant me
Just one wish from up above
I'd ask that I might write a song
For you that's filled with love
Now others too may listen
And may even sing along
But they'll have to understand My Lord
That this is your love song
Almighty King, Jehovah God
You Precious Prince of Peace
My hope, my joy, my everything
You are why I sing
And this song's for you
I don't have much to offer Lord
And my abilities are few
But if I may dear Lord I'd love
To sing this song for you
Almighty King, Jehovah God
You Precious Prince of Peace
My hope, my joy, my everything
You are why I sing
And this song's for you

He's Risen Victorious
By Cheryl A. Mariano

He's risen victorious,
He's all glorious
Seated now at God's right hand
The angels are curious
Satan is furious
At His redemptive plan
Of Jesus Christ I sing
Prophet, High Priest and King
He's given me everything
He's risen victorious
He's all glorious
My praise to Him I bring
He's risen victorious
He's all glorious
From the rooftop I'll proclaim
Of God the Great I Am
Who once became a man
The seed of Abraham
I come now through His Blood
It cleanses like a flood
There is no other way
He's risen victorious
He's all glorious
What else is there to say
He's risen victorious
He's all glorious
And through all ages
I will sing His praises
I gladly bow my knee
He's risen victorious
He's all glorious
He means the world to me

For All Eternity
By Cheryl A. Mariano

There's another world where there is light
My eyes can almost see it
Where Jesus sits on heaven's throne
With all His power and might
From up above He watches me
And whispers oh so clear
One day you will be here with me
For all eternity
I'll hold your hand you'll walk with me
You are so dear to me
And I've prepared this place above
To show my love to thee
So till the day I call you home
Down on the earth you'll be
But one day soon you'll be here with me
For all eternity, for all eternity

When To God I Offered Praise
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Today my heavy load of cares
Came pressing down on me
I felt somewhat like Peter
Almost drowning in the sea

I knew in time God would answer
But I was anxious none the less
The doubts began to ask me
You sure that God knows best

Well the flesh took right on over
Said perhaps you shouldn't wait
For God to provide the answer
After all, suppose He's late

But I remembered all the times I've failed Him
And I fell down on my knees
I put my eyes on God above
And I took them off of me

I went boldly to the throne room
Felt so good I was amazed
All the cares were lifted from me
When to God I offered praise

Well, the strangest thing then happened
I saw beauty everywhere
The sun shone even brighter
And I didn't have a care

I sensed God's Holy Presence
Thought I heard the angels sing
I fell down at the Savior's feet
And I praised The King of Kings

I went boldly to the throne room
Felt so good I was amazed
All The cares were lifted from me
When to God I offered praise

A Million Hallelujahs
By Cheryl A. Mariano

A million hallelujahs to the King of Kings I sing
A million hallelujahs I will let my praises ring
A million hallelujahs to Jehovah God above
A million hallelujahs I will sing to God with love

Dear Jesus Hi, it's me again
Cuz I forgot to say
There's a million hallelujahs
In my heart for you today

When I had finished praying
For the burdens on my heart
I realized that I forgot
The most important part

To say no matter how you choose
To answer my requests
I love you and completely trust
In your Omnipotence

A million hallelujahs
A million hallelujahs
A million hallelujahs
To the King of Kings

The Hammer
By Cheryl A. Mariano

I pictured clearly in my mind
The cross at Calvary
I saw a line of people there
With names from A to Z

The line moved slowly, single file
We knew why we were there
My turn is coming up I sobbed
My heart filled with despair

Alas, I stood before His face
I saw shame and sorrow, mixed with grace
I gazed at Him so tenderly
Two pain filled eyes gazed back at me

I saw the blood upon His brow
I heard Him say, it’s your turn now
You must pound the nails without delay
I AM dying here for you today

Pick up the hammer and hold it tight
Now, swing it back with all your might
And drive the nails yet deeper in
I AM here to take away your sin

The hardest thing I have ever done
Was to drive the nails in God’s own Son
But there was just no other way
And He offers that hammer to you today

Masks
By Cheryl A. Mariano

In my bedroom drawer neatly tucked away
What mask to church will I wear today
There are four from which I have to choose
But today I’ll wear the one that hides The Blues
My Smiley mask I have nearly worn out
It hides so well my fears and doubts
My Spiritual mask works like a jewel
It hides me when I’ve been mean and cruel
The mask I call my Ace in the hole
Hides me when my heart is cold
Sometimes I wish others could see
Right past the mask and into me
And help me find my way back home
To God’s dear arms from whence I’ve roamed
But others seem to do so well
My failures I wouldn’t dare to tell
Then the question to myself I ask
I wonder if they too wear a mask

Holy of Holies
By Cheryl A. Mariano

For you I have waited
I am so glad that you came
And I see you have your Credentials
My Blood and My Name

Come, let’s just sit here together
In our Heavenly Place
I AM longing to hold you
Feel the warmth of your face

I created this Glory
With you on my mind
All the things you desire
In my Presence you’ll find

But, head knowledge relationship
Just will not do
For I want you to know Me
And I want to know you

The veil of the temple
When it rent in two
Was a picture of my flesh
Of what I came to do

I came to tear down walls
And thoughts that aren’t true
Like, the Holy of Holies
Is just for a few

The Holy of Holies
Is not just for some
The Access is wide open
Whosoever, may come

I want you to know
I Love when you’re near
And you don’t have to leave
You’re suppose to dwell here

The Lesson
By Cheryl A. Mariano

The lesson that I have for you
To learn upon this day
Is a special one I must admit
I heard the Savior say

The lesson deals with my Great Love
Yes, it’s hard to comprehend
You see, it has no beginning
And my child, it has no end

I send the rain upon the righteous
And on the unrighteous too
And the sun I shine upon you all
Not just a select few

Upon the earth there will be times
Someone hurts or does you wrong
But let these words dwell in your heart
And remember this little song

I send the rain upon the righteous
And on the unrighteous too
And the sun I shine upon you all
Not just a select few

So learn the lesson well my child
Learn to love your enemies
And forgive them for the things they do
As I have forgiven you

A Chiffon Laced Gown
By Cheryl A. Mariano

A chiffon laced gown, with matching hat, and a-cess -or-ies
Was what I wore to meet the Lord
For we had a date at three
He was already there when I arrived
He was waiting patiently
He smiled at me and whispered sweet
You look so lov-e-ly
But He wasn’t looking at my clothes
He was looking inside of me
And I heard Him say when I see the blood
I will pass over thee
He gently took my hand in His
We walked along the path
That led into the garden
And then I heard Him ask
Do you know why I asked you here
No Lord, was my reply
Then I heard Him breathe a sigh
And tears came in His eyes
The hour is late there’s no time to delay
Listen beloved to all that I say
Proclaim this message loud and clear
To all who will listen to all who will hear
I am looking for children
To whom themselves
Are willing to die
To lay their ambitions, desires aside
To bear in their bodies the marks of the cross
Withstand the heat of the fire
As I burn off the dross
To count all their gains as though they were loss
To stand true to my calling regardless of cost
Be willing to wait for Heaven’s rewards
And even in dark times Still call Me Lord
It will not be easy but with you I’ll be
But I need you to say
Here I am Lord, send me

A Flower in the Desert
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Instead of just one little flower
A garden could have been mine
If during my stay in the desert
I hadn’t grumbled and cried half the time
It took me a long time to realize
The reason why I was there
At first I thought He forgot about me
Or even worse that He just didn’t care
Now, I know it was His great love
That allowed me to walk through the pain
It was there in the valley of Baca
I saw more of God’s victory and gain
When I stopped asking why have you left me
And to Him I surrendered in prayer
A strange thing suddenly happened
I realized He had always been there

The Flower’s Beauty
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Flowers have a beauty
This I don’t deny
But they only live a short while
Then they fade and quickly die

God helped me see the flower
In a new and different way
The message is in their color
I pass it on to you today

The Blue ones are the angels
As they watched from heaven on high
As I left my throne in Glory
To go to planet earth to die

The Red ones say I Love You
I shed my blood at Calvary
The Green ones simply mean
You’ll spend eternity with me

The Yellow says I’ve risen
I AM the Morning Son
I lay no longer in the tomb
My work on earth is done

The White is for deliverance
I have set the captive free
I’ve released you from the enemy
You now belong to me

And all the colors in between
The Purple, Orange, Pink
Means I can do way above
All you’ll ask or think

So remember my Beloved
When you see a grand bouquet
There is beauty in the flower
And what the flower has to say

Isn't It God
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Sometimes, we measure success
By the results a man has
And sometimes we look at each other
And we say, “A success for God”

Oh, but things don’t always work out
The way a man may think they should
And he often times to others
Is poorly misunderstood

But my friend, I’m here to tell you
And I speak this from my heart
Oh please, don’t get discouraged
But I tell you, just keep on

For isn’t it God who gives the victories
Isn’t it God who makes the way
Isn’t it God who calmed the stormy sea
And God who made the day

Isn’t it God who makes the sunshine
Isn’t it God who brings the night
Oh my friend, don’t look at your circumstance
Just keep looking to the Light

For as the years unfold themselves
And His perfect plan is revealed
You will find just what He has for you
Through all the coming years

And one day your toil will be rewarded
For the “Master” will have worked
His mighty plan, His ageless plan
Through that circumstance
That others said, “They’ve failed “

For isn’t it God who gives the victories
Isn’t it God who makes the way
Isn’t it God who calmed the stormy sea
And God who made the day

Isn’t it God who makes the sunshine
Isn’t it God who brings the night
Oh my friend, don’t look at your circumstance
Just keep looking to the Light

God’s Treasure Chest
By Cheryl A. Mariano

Did you know down in the valley
There’s a treasure chest of God’s
It’s hidden deep and it’s unseen
To the naked eye

And your heart it is the shovel
That digs deep into the ground
Where God’s most precious
Treasure chest is found

You cannot see Him on the mountain top
Where all is well and good
On the mountain top we worship God
But not the way we should

When He takes us from the mountain
To the valley deep below
The reason is because He loves us so

As we open up the treasure
In the valley deep and dim
The first Gem we see is Jesus
And we get a closer look at Him

And He whispers so lovingly
So tender yet so clear
You barely saw Me on the mountain top
So I had to bring you here

You cannot see Him on the mountain top
Where all is well and good
On the mountain top we worship God
But not the way we should

When He takes us from the mountain
To the valley deep below
The reason is because He loves us so
