Our Sins Swallowed Up By His Love
By Cameron C. McElroy

Cameron writes: I got born again when I was 14 and I had strict religious upbringing. My mentor was religious and legalistic, but my experience with Jesus (like in this story) destroyed that concept. Now, I'm still in the process of renewing my mind to the truth of God's Word. I know God has called me to be a teacher (Ephesians 4:11) of his Word and I'm still green and growing."

I remember this one particular time when my mentor and I were singing in praise and worship to God. She had a CD that had praise on it and we were sitting at the table just singing, or at least I was. My mentor was playing a card game and singing. She usually did that.

As we were halfway done with the CD, the man on the CD said "I just get the sense that Jesus just pulled up a chair and is receiving a beautiful love song of his bride.” During that time, specifically, I was worried about things in my life. I felt guilty and condemned over things in my life.

All of a sudden, as I had my eyes closed and heard what that man said, I just imagined Jesus standing next to me and it FELT as If Jesus was right next to me. I can honestly say that that’s the closest I’ve ever been to heaven in my life. It was as if Jesus told me, "none of that matters anymore."

I was feeling so bad about things and it was as if it had been washed away. Jesus was loving and close to me when I wasn’t lovable even as a Christian. Jesus just loved me when everything was going wrong in my life.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." (Hebrews 13:8)

I’ve been told by religious people before that God was resisting me and not answering my prayers. But Jesus, in this experience, showed his love when I wasn’t lovely. Jesus isn’t as worried about our problems as we are. His love overwhelmed my worries and sins.

I know the verse "Casting all your care upon him for he careth for you." (1 Peter 5:7) because that was the first time I experienced it. God’s love, grace and mercy are greater than our sins. (Romans 5:20) Praise God for his mercy!
